Vernon (Vern) Demarr Herrington

DECATUR, GA-

Vernon Demarr Herrington, affectionately known as Vern, was born on November 22, 1987, in Detroit, Michigan to the parentage of the late Francine Herrington and Alfred Street.

He departed his earthly life on December 14, 2023, at Emory Hillandale Hospital in Lithonia, DeKalb County, GA.

Vern was a 2006 graduate from Wilcox County High School in Rochelle, GA and later attended Middle Georgia College.

He was a loving, caring and selfless individual who always put the needs of others before his own. Vern was the type of gentleman that you could always count on. If you were ever in need of a kind word of encouragement or simply needed a shoulder to lean on, Vern was always just one call away.

His passion was his physical and mental health. He had an unconditional love for people, especially those who he considered his family. Vern never had a bad day, and even if he did, you would never know it. He never complained or hesitated to extend a hand when needed. His favorite saying was, "I Got Ya!"

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents.

His love, smile and laughter will forever live in the hearts of his life partner and confidant, Ms. Sakeena Allen, bonus daughter, Ms. Nailah Allen of Decatur GA;4 brothers, Lamarr Herrington of Rochelle, GA, Jay Herrington (Ty Delgado) of Miami, FL, Kristopher Thompson and Aldonijah Street of Detroit, MI.; 2 sisters; Danielle Thompson and Khalani Thompson of Detroit, MI,; 1 sister in love, Torie Brown of Abbeville, GA; six nephews and two nieces. Vern also leaves an innumerable number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends with many memories to be cherished.

Celebration of Life for Mr. Vernon Herrington will be held on Saturday, Decemeber 30, 2023 at 12 Noon at The Old Wilxcox County High School Gym, Rochelle, GA with Reverend Travis Johnson, Eulogist. Interement will follow in the Evergreen Church Cemetery, Rochelle, GA.
